Budget Report

By way of a budget report, the Elliot Institute began 1992 with $1636 and raised an additional $10,456 during this past year through 84 contributions from 51 persons, of whom six have committed themselves to a monthly pledge amount. Donations have ranged from as little as $2 to as much as $3000. In all, though we have only a few supporters at this time, the supporters we do have are extremely generous and committed. My sincere thank you to all of you. Your generosity is truly humbling, and I pray that God will richly bless you and your families both in this life and the life to come.

During this last year, expenditures have been approximately $9368. Of this amount, approximately $3300 was spent on printing of education materials, postage, and supplies. Over one three-month period, I received a contract payment of $6000 authorized by the Elliot Institute board to undertake data cleaning, grant writing, and other fund raising activities. At the time of this writing in December, our present balance is $2724.

Sharing Some Good News

In January of 1992 I left my job with a local engineering firm to do pro-life work through the Elliot Institute full time. Though I was not being paid for my work for the Elliot Institute, it was my hope, and that of our board, that eventually we would secure enough funding to provide a living-wage for my position and other staff positions. This has not yet happened, but we continue to be hopeful that it will.

On average, I have volunteered more than 34 hours a week to the Elliot Institute. I have been blessed with the freedom to this only because our family savings have been supplemented with income from a few small writing assignments and consulting jobs. As can be imagined, this past year has involved a great amount of belt-tightening in the Reardon home.

But just as our financial picture began to look desperate, our Lord rewarded our step of faith in an unexpected way. This Fall, the Arthur S. De Moss foundation purchased from my publisher excerpts of Aborted Women - Silent No More collected into a retitled book called Life Stories. The royalties from this sale have been a major aid in making ends meet. Our Lord moves in wondrous ways!
